About Yak

Who are we and why did we create Yak?

We're Barrett and Cami, the husband and wife team behind Yak. That's us with our dog Indie in the photo above. By day, Barrett is a product designer at Pinterest. Yak is something the two of us built together on nights and weekends.

A few years ago, we moved from Washington to Colorado and started working our way through the 14ers. Along the way, we realized there wasn't really a fun-to-use home for tracking the bigger goals, like climbing all the Colorado 14ers, reaching every state highpoint, or pursuing a quest that might take years to complete.

Most tools are built for a single day or a single outing. They help you plan something beautiful for the weekend, but they don't help you pursue a goal that stretches across seasons or even a lifetime.

We created Yak to be a home for those longer journeys. A place where individual achievements connect into something larger, where progress matters as much as completion, and where the intention is not just to go somewhere, but to build something meaningful over time.
