What are the Volcanic Seven Summits?

The Volcanic Seven Summits are the highest volcanoes on each continent: Ojos del Salado in South America, Kilimanjaro in Africa, Damavand in Asia, Elbrus in Europe, Pico de Orizaba in North America, Mount Giluwe in Australia and Oceania, and Mount Sidley in Antarctica. Ojos del Salado, on the Chile and Argentina border, is the highest at 22,615 feet. The list was first completed in 2011. Some choices are debated. Higher volcanic cones exist in Tibet but are not usually treated as volcanic mountains, and published heights for Mount Sidley vary. Giluwe holds its place if Oceania is treated as one continent.

The highest volcano on every continent

Several of these volcanoes are familiar objectives, but Giluwe and Sidley are rarely visited and require complex travel.
